What is Block Now?
Block Now is on the home screen. Pick a duration, 5m, 10m, 15m, 20m, 30m, 45m or 1h, then tap Choose Apps to Block. The app selection is made through Apple's own app picker and stays private to your device.
What are Scheduled Blocks?
You pick the apps that take the most from you and the hours they should stay shut, such as work mornings or evenings. During those hours, iOS stops those apps from opening and you see a block screen instead of the feed.
What does Doomscroll Protection do?
Pick the apps that are time sinks, and AppBlocker stops you after 15 minutes of use to break the dopamine cycle. You make the choice once, while you are thinking clearly, and the stop arrives on its own instead of relying on you to notice the time.
When should you use the Manual Block?
The Manual Block is for the apps you are truly done with, at least for now. It is a firm wall you set yourself, and it stays up until you turn it off deliberately, not in the middle of a craving. The Blocked Apps row on the home screen shows the apps you have chosen to block.
What is the Focus Streak?
The home screen shows a Focus Streak card with your current streak, a check row for each day of the week, and your best streak.
What do the screen-time stats show?
The Stats screen shows where your time actually went:
- Daily goal. A daily screen-time goal, your status against it, and the time remaining.
- Today's screen time. Your total for the day.
- Today, This Week and 2 Weeks. Switch between the three views.
- Hourly usage chart. When during the day the time went.
- Usage by category. How your time splits across types of apps.
- Top apps. The apps that took the most time.
Like everything else in AppBlocker, this data stays on your iPhone.
What else is built in?
- No sign-up. There is nothing to sign up for.
- Stays on your phone. Your app choices and screen-time data never leave the device. There is no server holding any of it.
- Set it and forget it. Configure once and it runs in the background.
- Free. No subscription and no paywall on the blocking. AppBlocker is supported by ads.
What doesn't AppBlocker do?
Where AppBlocker is the wrong tool: it is for iPhone, it does not block apps on a laptop or other devices, and it is not a parental-controls app for managing someone else's phone. Because it relies on Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls systems, blocking cannot be guaranteed in every circumstance.
