DögEar Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 24, 2026
The short version: DögEar is a location-based community feed of short videos organized by city. It uses an account, servers, and a city-level location to work. Your precise GPS coordinates never leave your device. We do not sell personal data, and you can delete your account and its data from inside the app.
This Privacy Policy applies to DögEar, an app made by Crescent Harbor LLC ("we", "us", "our"), a limited liability company registered in Pennsylvania, United States, operating under the DogearHQ brand.
DögEar is a location-based community feed of short videos organized by city. It uses an account, servers, and location to work.
1. Information We Collect
- Email address, used to create and manage your account and to send verification codes and account emails.
- An anonymous per-installation device identifier, used as a pseudonymous identity for your votes, reports, and any content you post, and to enforce our rules.
- Approximate location at the city level. When you allow location access, your device converts your location into a city label on the device itself, and only that label is sent to us. If you do not allow location access, we estimate an approximate city from your IP address. We never receive or store your precise GPS coordinates.
- Activity in the app, including the videos you view, the votes you cast, and the reports you submit.
- Content you post, which is a reference to a video hosted on a third-party platform (the platform, the video ID, and the link). We do not host or store the video files themselves.
- Profile photos you choose to upload, which are automatically screened for inappropriate content before use.
- Push notification tokens, used solely to deliver notifications you opt into.
- Subscription and purchase status, if you buy anything in the app. Purchases are processed by Apple; we receive confirmation of your status, not your payment details.
- Your IP address and basic request data, used for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting.
- Advertising identifiers, collected by our advertising provider when ads are shown (see Section 4).
2. How We Use Information
- Create and manage your account.
- Show you the community feed for your city, and let you browse, watch, vote, and post.
- Operate features such as voting, views, and reporting.
- Display and moderate profile photos you upload.
- Keep the service safe by detecting and acting on prohibited content and preventing abuse.
- Deliver optional push notifications.
- Serve and measure ads.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
Account information, profile photos, posted video references, votes, and reports are stored on our servers and cloud storage to provide DögEar's service. Profile photos are automatically screened for inappropriate content before being made available. Your precise location never leaves your device; only a city-level label is sent to us.
4. Tracking and Advertising
DögEar shows ads through Unity Ads (Unity Technologies). When an ad is shown, Unity may collect device and advertising identifiers to deliver and measure ads. On Apple devices we ask for your permission through the App Tracking Transparency prompt before any tracking for advertising takes place. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be less personalized.
Unity's practices are described at unity.com/legal/privacy-policy. You can also limit ad tracking under iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites for our own purposes, and we do not sell personal data.
5. YouTube API Services
DögEar uses YouTube API Services to help you discover popular public videos on YouTube. Specifically, DögEar uses the YouTube Data API to identify currently popular public videos and to retrieve basic display information about them, such as the video title, thumbnail, and video ID, which are shown in the app's feeds. YouTube videos are played through YouTube's official embedded player, and each video links back to its original page on YouTube. DögEar does not download, store, rehost, or modify YouTube video files; the videos remain hosted on and streamed from YouTube.
By using DögEar, you are also agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Your use of information retrieved through YouTube API Services is subject to the Google Privacy Policy. You can manage or revoke DögEar's access to your data, and review the permissions you have granted to third-party applications including DögEar, through the Google security settings page. Any basic YouTube video information that DögEar stores for display is refreshed regularly and removed when it is no longer used in the feed.
6. Third-Party Services
- Unity Ads (advertising)
- Railway (hosting and database)
- Amazon Web Services (cloud storage and automated image moderation)
- YouTube API Services (discovery and playback of public YouTube videos; governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy)
- TikTok and Instagram (video playback; videos play from or open on their original platform, under that platform's own privacy policy)
- OneSignal (push notifications)
- Resend (account and verification emails)
- Google (sign-in, if you choose to use it)
- Apple (in-app purchases and subscriptions)
7. Content Moderation and Safety
Because DögEar shows content that people post, we operate moderation tools. Any user can report content, we can remove reported or prohibited content across all feeds where it appears, and we can block a device from posting if it violates our rules. Profile photos are screened by automated image moderation before use. Our content rules are described in our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You can disable location access in your device settings and choose your city manually in the app. You can decline ad tracking through the App Tracking Transparency prompt or your device settings. You can delete your DögEar account and associated personal data from within the app, which removes your account information, posted references, profile photo, votes, and reports from our servers. You can review and revoke DögEar's access to your Google or YouTube data at any time through the Google security settings page.
Depending on where you live, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and California, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any right, contact us at the address below. We do not sell your personal information.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the service and for legitimate legal, security, and dispute-resolution purposes. You can delete your DögEar account and its associated personal data at any time from within the app, which removes your account information, posted video references, profile photo, votes, and reports from our servers. Basic YouTube video information retrieved through YouTube API Services and stored for display in the feed is refreshed regularly and deleted when it is no longer shown.
10. Children's Privacy
DögEar is intended for users 17 and older and is not directed to children. DögEar does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by local law. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app.
